Q: Do I Need to Replace the Whole Door or Just the Motor?

In most cases, if the garage door panels are structurally sound and the motor is the only fault, a motor replacement is all you need. Full door replacement is worth considering if your door is 15 or more years old, the panels are damaged, or the cost of repairs is approaching the cost of a new door. If you're unsure, our team will give you a straight answer, walking you through different options, motors , and warranties . Request a quote or assessment today.

Q: Why Is My Garage Door Opening by Itself?

This usually comes down to one of four things: Frequency interference from a nearby device or neighbour's remote A jammed button on your remote Faulty wall button wiring Control board issue Start by checking whether your remote button is physically stuck. If it is, that's likely the cause. Removing the remote battery temporarily can help isolate the issue. If the door continues opening on its own after those checks, it's worth getting the wiring and control board looked at. Q: My Remote Stopped Working. Do I Need a New Remote or Motor?

Most of the time it's the remote, not the motor. Try these steps first: Replace the batteries If you suspect someone has changed your pin code, re-code the remote to the motor (steps on our FAQ page ) Test the motor using the manual open, stop, and close buttons on the unit itself If the motor responds to the manual buttons but not the remote, it's a remote issue . If neither works, the motor likely needs a service — give us a call on 1300 MY DOOR .

Q: My garage door won't open or close. What should I do?

Here are a few maintenance checks you can do if your garage door won’t open or close: Check your power or power socket and make sure it’s live. Try plugging in another device such as a lamp or drill to see if they receive power. When using a remote or wall panel button, we need to check if the motor is working properly. Press the red button on your motor unit. If your door opens or closes, your motor is working fine. The issue is likely with the remote or the wall panel. Change your remote’s batteries If none of these work, you can manually open your door with the pull cord. Make sure you pull it firmly but not forcefully since it could snap. Our emergency services team can help you find the issue. Call them on 1300 MY DOOR .

Q: Can you automate an existing gate?

Yes. In most cases, gate automation can be installed on an existing manual gate without needing to replace the gate itself. Automation systems can be fitted to both swing gates and sliding gates, provided the gate structure is in good condition and suitable for motorisation. A professional installation typically involves fitting the gate motor, control system, safety features, and access controls to the existing gate. However, the gate’s weight, size, and structural condition must be assessed first to ensure it can safely support automation.
